PROFFORMANCE+ Thematic Webinars, a platform for future educators

The PROFFORMANCE international webinar series has successfully engaged over a thousand higher education stakeholders in the past two years. Eight online webinars were organized to share effective teaching practices and facilitate professional networking among educators in higher education from the partner countries of the PROFFORMANCE project: Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Georgia, Hungary, and Serbia. Participants gained insights into the PROFFORMANCE Assessment Tool.

The series has empowered thousands of participants to enhance their teaching practices in topics such as student-centered learning, assessment, inclusion, and digitalization.

Through targeted promotional efforts, the series reached tens of thousands of higher education stakeholders, introducing them to the comprehensive PROFFORMANCE Toolkit that includes the Assessment Tool and the Excellence Teacher Database, which formed the basis for the thematic structure of the webinars.

Key Themes in Higher Education

The Assessment Tool evaluates teaching performance across six thematic areas: student-centered course design, teaching and learning practices, student work evaluation, social impact, professional development, and organization and administration. It also addresses four priority areas—digitization, internationalization, inclusion, and sustainability—each examined from three perspectives: self, peer, and student.

The webinar series addressed those themes, starting with student-centered course design, which continued emphasizing the importance of active learning and engagement. The following webinars explored effective assessment strategies that prioritize fair and meaningful evaluations, and discussed the societal mission of higher education institutions, highlighting their role in social progress. Innovation was also a key focus, with discussions on emerging teaching methodologies such as gamification and project-based learning. The series also tackled issues of inclusion and diversity, advocating for equitable education for all students, and examined internationalization through the lens of student mobility and global collaborations. Sustainability was another important theme, with sessions showcasing green initiatives, while digitalization focused on the integration of technology in modern teaching and learning.

Introducing good practices from the Teaching Excellence Database

Each webinar was structured to concentrate on a specific topic, followed by activities that provided participants with insights into various aspects of the PROFFORMANCE Assessment Tool. Moreover, attendees had opportunities for knowledge sharing and networking through practical demonstrations of selected best practices.

The series drew inspiration from the PROFFORMANCE Teaching Excellence Database, featuring 126 methodological good practices contributed by educators from six countries, recognized during the 2021/2022 PROFFORMANCE Higher Education Teacher Award.
