Expert Consultations in the DIGITALIZATION Module – 17 and 23 April 2026 - Course Upgrade PLA
The DIGITALIZATION phase marked the beginning of Module 1 of the Upgrade Your Course PLA, focusing on how digital tools can be used consciously, effectively, and in a learner-centred way to support the achievement of intended learning outcomes within participants’ own courses, with expert consultations guiding participants throughout the process.
2 expert consultation sessions were held within the DIGITALIZATION module of the PROFFORMANCE short courses on 17 and 23 April 2026. The sessions were led by Jan Beseda, head of the Digitalization development working group within the PROFFORMANCE programme, who supported participants in deepening their understanding of digital teaching and learning practices.
Session on 17 April – overview and foundation building
The first session focused on providing a structured overview of the course and introducing key concepts related to digital teaching and learning design. The main elements included:
- Course overview
- Presentation by Jan Beseda
- Q&A session
- Speed networking activity: “What is your superpower in digitalization of teaching and learning?”
Participants also engaged with content related to practical implementation of digital skills development, particularly in supporting learners’ everyday and professional competencies. A key methodological focus was the application of the 5-Step Course Design Framework.
Additional supporting materials and tasks are available through the course platform, including practical exercises on developing learners’ digital skills in real-life contexts.
Session on 23 April – practice, reflection, and challanges
The second session was more practice-oriented and focused feedback on reviewied exercises, and discussion on challenges of the digitalization.
The agenda included:
- Review of exercises and model solutions
- Forum activity (discussion-based contribution and challenge posting with direct scoring opportunities)
- Speed networking in plenary
- Q&A session
- Announcement of new activity (voting for best examples from the PROFFORMANCE Teaching excellence database for a potential pop-up event)
This session also emphasized peer exchange and reflection, enabling participants to compare approaches and refine their digital teaching practices.
