REPORT ON PROFFOMANCE+ WEBINAR ON DIGITALISATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION
The eighth thematic webinar focused on digitalization in higher education, covering a wide range of topics spanning history, business, and artificial intelligence.
Over 120 higher education teachers from the EHEA countries participated in the euight PROFFORMANCE+ thematic webinar on Digitalization of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education held on the 7 November 2024. Through interactive presentations and examples of good practice from the PROFFORMANCE teaching excellence database and a Czech database, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the benefits, challenges, and difficulties associated with digitalization.
The webinar opened with a joint presentation by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports and the Centre for Higher Education Studies. This session highlighted the specifics of the Czech Republic's digitalization efforts, showcasing both successes and challenges, with valuable implications for other countries facing similar contexts.
Subsequent presentations addressed diverse themes, including the use of MOOCs as flexible tools to meet students’ varied needs, and the integration of modern digital platforms into historical studies. The webinar also introduced methods to overcome obstacles in joint teaching and the creation of adaptable materials for diverse study programs. Finally, the discussion emphasized the correct and ethical use of artificial intelligence in higher education.
The session concluded with an announcement of the 2024/25 Profformance Teaching Excellence Award and a dedicated Q&A segment.
